Usually as I go to sleep I feel the weight of my life come over me. My problems surface and I begin to swim in a sea of unfortunate circumstances. The future, the past, the present. I try to sort through them all until I feel helpless.

It is at that moment when I am standing there facing them all around me that I imagine myself start run- fast- past trees and cars and people. Through neighborhoods, forests, and deserts. In the rain. In the sun. In the moonlight. As I run I begin to breathe. A weight begins to lift. I shed the worry, the fear, the stress. I can be happy. Alone. Away from it all. I am free- for these moments.

Free.

Then I can sleep.
